Ur account is here to stay.
Nothing says you have to log in to it though.

Just don't log in. That could be a good thing in case you decide to come back. This way, it's still there in case you do want to come back.

Post 4 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 14:47:42

Your account will probably be disabled after about 3 mohnths or so of not using it.

Post 5 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 14:51:33

Accounts are only disabled if you do something against the terms of use. If you don't want to use the zone any more like others said don't logg in and you will forget about your account. If you enable the vocation mode from your account settings then you won't recieve any emails if you get private mails or for topicks you are subscribed so you will forget about the zone eventualy.

Post 6 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 15:15:14

that's correct, nikos. if you want to come back in the future, you still have an acount....so can use it. harmony, there are users acounts still here....havon't been loged in to since 2003, so no...your acount will never be removed

Post 7 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 22:31:10

Just to make it sort of official, posts 5 and 6 are correct. We do not disable accounts just because the person wants it to be that way. Simply not logging in will have the same effect.

Post 8 by SingerOfSongs (Heresy and apostasy is how progress is made.) on Wednesday, 16-Jan-2008 6:32:35

If you want it disabled so that people can't see your info, just clear it all out before you log out that last time.

Post 9 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Wednesday, 16-Jan-2008 8:20:46

Actually, if you are hell bent on disabling your account, open up a second account as another user and brag about it a bunch of times on public quicknotes. Or, break some other one of the terms of service.

Post 11 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 16-Jan-2008 16:15:57

hahaha bob. i've seen plenty of users that have done that. but seriously, i really don't see the fus.....if you don't want to log in, don't log in. in fact....if you go to my acount, you can hide your profile, so that people who are not loged in to the site can not view the information... but s

Post 12 by audioadict (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 23-Feb-2008 2:50:47

Lol bob, quite funny.
As others have said, just don't log in. Leave your profile totally blank. Really, why do you want to leave the zone. It's a wonderful place.

Post 13 by web-geek (Generic Zoner) on Wednesday, 16-Apr-2008 20:18:01

Post 17 by singingsensation (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 22-Jun-2008 21:33:13

Yeah, if you really want to disable your account, then why create an account if you aren't going to be using it for a while? This site is excellent! I have met a lot of people on here!

Post 18 by robbiec12345 (Good night and Farewell ) on Saturday, 08-Nov-2008 13:01:47

what they should do is have a system where you can type something like "disable account" in the about me section of your profile, which could alert a community leader or admin that you want your account disabled.

Post 19 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Saturday, 08-Nov-2008 15:04:46

na, if you don't want to come on this place, just don't log in. same results

Post 20 by andrew1989 (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 15:05:17

what, and have them go through profiles? Correct me if I'm wrong, but i doubt community leaders are going to scan through 6000+ profiles on this system looking for disable account, when you could jus tsimply not log in. Why bother getting yourself disabled. you're probably not reading this since you don't want to be on here, but thought I'd put it out there anyway.

Post 21 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 25-Nov-2008 16:52:35

And even if your account is disabled , you're still kinda on the system anyways.... if that makes any sens at all....
Its a never-ending database which never gets cleared out, weather you've been disables or not.

Post 23 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Monday, 09-Feb-2009 12:36:27

Post 24 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Monday, 09-Feb-2009 13:52:38

hahaha, it amazes me sometimes how people don't read the whole thread before asking questions that have been ansered

Post 25 by Blondie McConfusion (Blah Blah Blah) on Tuesday, 10-Feb-2009 0:04:25

seriously any cl that might read this. could y'all possibly put something in the little welcome to the zone email stating that the account won't be disabled? it gets old seeing board topic after board topic of people who can't just not log in.

Post 26 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 10-Feb-2009 2:02:21

Lol to some of these!
I know of people that haven't logged on for such a long time that their accounts have actually been deleted, or at least I am not able to locate their profile, so I'm sure if you wanted your account disabled, you could just not log on and eventually you'd be deletd, but as Dan has said, you'd still be in the system, because the numbers go in order, and any clearing out of that would affect the database since everyone has a certain user ID.

Post 27 by pianogirl (Generic Zoner) on Thursday, 12-Feb-2009 19:46:21

Why does it say that there are 5000+ registered users then, when I signed up this afternoon and got user ID 8687? Have that many people been disabled?

Post 28 by missdanceralicia (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 17-Feb-2009 23:16:20

what didnt someone ask that earlier?

Post 29 by Eponine (If you find a rare Gem, hold it tightly!) on Wednesday, 18-Feb-2009 13:49:50

lmfao, guys, no one has mentioned this, when you change your passsword, type in a bunch of random crap with out looking, and poof, you can't log in! rofl, or as Bob Said, break a hell of a lot of TOS, and hope it's not a 2 week banning. lmfao!

Post 30 by robbiec12345 (Good night and Farewell ) on Wednesday, 18-Feb-2009 14:30:17

to effectively disable your accout:

1. if you have a zbp phone pin, delete it.

2. go to your profile and uncheck the option to allow other members to email you.

3. check the box that says something like hide my profile from non-members

4. (optional and probably not a good idea) break one of the rules outlined in the TOS

5. or alternatively, just don't log in!

it's as simple as that

Post 31 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 18-Feb-2009 15:15:36

That's right pianogirl. The difference between those two numbers is because of the number of accounts that have been disabled over the years. All of those accounts remain on the system though because of the numbering system so in effect you're active acount number 5000 ish, but we've had nearly 9000 accounts created here in total since January of 2003 when the site first opened.

Dan.

Post 32 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 19-Feb-2009 13:39:48

Also, some of those accounts belong to users who never verified their email address. They weren't all disabled for ToS violations.
